Welcome the Heimdall and Loki Community. Anything related to the pairing or the two characters can be posted here, including fanfiction, fanart, drabbles, and the like (just be sure to use lj-cuts when necessary). Just be sure to be careful about marking spoilers for those who haven't had a chance to see very far into the anime or manga.

To start, I have to ask this general question out of curiosity: what drew you to this pairing in the first place?

I personally was a little wary of the idea of Heimdall and Loki being paired up simply because of how so many "rivals" are tossed together due to their mutual hatred. Interestingly, though, this never really seemed to be a case of mutual hatred: sure, Loki would get frustrated, annoyed, or angered by Heimdall, but it was never really hatred. With Heimdall, however, he was obsessed in serving what he saw as retribution to Loki, since Odin deceived him into thinking that Loki was the one who stole Heimdall's eye. He doesn't even care about destroying himself in the process of trying to kill Loki and refuses to take Loki's hand as he's falling into the abyss. So, on Heimdall's part... it would definitely take him time to even be on "good terms" with Loki after the entire ordeal (if ever). And with Loki... mm, probably a bit of the same, but I think he cares about Heimdall enough that he would be willing to try and help the guy out, even if Heimdall wouldn't want his help.

Wow, this is starting to sound like a very one-sided relationship in my mind... ::sweatdrop::

Episode 21 did it for me. I had had absolutely no feelings for the pairing up to that point, and then suddenly it was like woah. And I felt all strange and inspired and I wrote that awful drabble on fanfiction.net. x_x; Yeah.

Hey, it was that "awful drabble" that I got keenly interested in the pairing, so it couldn't have been all that bad ::grins::. But yes, episode 21 definitely seemed to fan the flames of fandom for a lot of people, and I can certainly see why. The interaction between Loki and Heimdall was very different there than previous encounters, in my mind, and I especially was... moved (isn't quite the right word, but I can't think of a better word to describe it at this time) by Loki's reaction to it all, in addition to the denial and delusion in Heimdall.

+_+ Yes! That is exactly it. You are using all the right words and stroking me the right way, prrr. I mean, the fighting bit didn't make much sense and Heimdall's techniques are embarrassing, but the part where he's falling and Loki's like.. all... well. Yes. Lovely. Um.

Incoherence.

It may sound a bit shallow but whenever I watch or read something, I subconsciously look for possible pairings, preferably slashy. Loki and Heimdall's situation simply drew my attention at some point, feelings between them were pretty fierce (although not exactly positive... >.<;;) so I thought, why not pair them up? It was just a random idea, only that now I've grown to be really fond of this couple. I can actually see it happening - not in the series but in good in-character fan-fiction.

That seems to be the case for a lot of people: not being able to see it in canon, but in fanon. o_o;

Mm, nothing wrong with that! I actually do a lot of that myself ::laughs::. But yes, the circumstances of Loki and Heimdall's relationship is just interesting to look at. The conflicted and angst-ridden relationships can be more engaging simply because there is so much going on under the surface. And because of that, you don't so easily run out of things for fanfiction fodder and the like.

And I agree. I couldn't see it actually happening in the series, but perhaps either before or way after the events thereof. In fact, if they had a relationship before the start of the series, that makes the kiss that Heimdall gives Mayura in episode 3 an entirely different meaning... ::evil grin::

In my case... it's all the fault of reisha. She re-introduced me to a series I had a passing interest in purchasing and shoved Loki/Hemu at me. Then, there were her fics about them and my promising a few Maloki arts.

Hey, nice to see you on here! >D; By the way, I hope you don't mind me asking, but which series does your LJ icons come from? I kept thinking to ask, but I kept forgetting.
